EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, Aug 24: Three activists of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) were today remanded to police custody till August 26 by a metropolitan magistrate of holiday court at Bandra.

Pranati Deka, Arun Deka and Kamal Barua were arrested by officers of the Special Branch of the Mumbai police at Santa Cruz airport on Saturday while trying to escape. However, police clarified that the three of them had no intention of creating trouble in the city. Pranati, the cultural secretary of the underground outfit, was pregnant and had come here for delivery about 15 days ago, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, (SB-I), V N Ingle, told The Indian Express on Sunday, that no weapons were found on them. ``Preliminary investigations have not revealed anything serious. They had come here for Pranati's delivery. We will hand them over to the Assam police team,'' Ingle said.
