CBI chief for Biswas' ouster from fodder probe
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director R C Sharma is expected to file an affidavit before the Patna High Court, seeking permission to remove CBI joint director U N Biswas and Superintendent of Police V S Kaumudi from the Special Investigating Team probing the Rs 950-crore fodder scam.

New Civil Aviation Act under consideration
The Union civil aviataion is considering a new Civil Aviation Act to replace the existing one which has been found to be outdated. Union minister of state for civil aviation Jayanthi Natarajan said the objective of the new Act is to make the Civil Aviation sector "more streamlined".

Veerappan ends hostages' trauma

The Cabinet committee on foreign investment (CCFI) has cleared several foreign investment proposals including that of the Mitsubishi Corporation to set up a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) having 3.5 lakh tonne annual installed capacity at Haldia with a total cost of Rs 1400 crore.

TN refuses Central help for minor ports
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has refused the financial assistance offered by Union surface transport minister, T G Venkatraman, for the development of minor ports in the state, saying that he was against further encroachment by Central authorities in the domain of the states.

Telco to raise Rs 300 cr for Indica, other capex plans
Telco, the truck and multi-utility vehicle major, plans to raise Rs 300 crore through short-term debt funds to partly meet its capital expenditure programme spread over three years. The total capex is said to be over Rs 1,700 crore for the next five years.

ModiLuft plans to raise Rs 300 crore for relaunch
Modiluft, presently a non-operational domestic airline, plans to raise Rs 300 crore through a private placement or external borrowing to relaunch services after settling its dispute with Lufthansa.

Sansui plans joint venture with Videocon's Dhoot
Japanese electronics major Sansui is planning a joint venture with the Dhoot family of the Videocon group for manufacture and marketing its range of consumer electronics goods including colour televisions.

Itochu plans venture to transport Honda cars in India
Itochu Corporation of Japan, which ranks second in the Fortune 500 list, has submitted a proposal to the Centre to pick up a 74% equity stake in a joint venture with the Mumbai-based DBC group for inland transport services.

There is no need to regulate rating agencies: SEBI
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed that credit rating agencies should be kept outside the purview of regulation. The regulatory body has proposed that the clauses in the SEBI Act, which allow the board to equip itself with powers to govern the activities of rating agencies, should be dropped altogether by way of an amendment.
