Global sport -- Another blast rocks Swedish stadium
GOTHENBURG: An explosion rocked a sports stadium in the western Swedish city of Gothenburg today, the latest of attacks on Swedish sports facilities, police said. Responsibility for previous blasts has been claimed by a shadowy group saying it opposes Sweden's bid to host the 2004 Olympic Games. No one was injured in the blast. The explosion occurred at Ullevi Stadium in central Gothenburg. The stadium was the venue for the 1995 World Athletics Championships and US pop star Michael Jackson performed there last week. Vialli nets four BARNSLEY: Italian Gianluca Vialli scored `four-in-a-row' on Sunday as Chelsea's foreign stars went to work against the Premier League newcomers Barnsley for an emphatic 6-0 victory yesterday. Goals by Romanian midfielder Dan Petrescu (in the 25th minute), Uruguay's Gustavo Poyet (38th minute) and Vialli (44th) gave Ruud Gullit's FA Cup winners a 3-0 lead by halftime at Oakwell Ground. Vialli scored again in the 57th minute and added two more in the 65th and 82nd minute. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
