Short Corner -- BMFA annual camp
The Bipin Memorial Football Association's (BMFA) annual free coaching camp for boys and girls under 16 years of age will begin at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Kridangan, Borsa Pada, Desai Wadi, near Borivali-Poisar depot from September 7. Harish Rao, manager of the Mahindras will be the chief coach at the camp and would be assisted by Sanjeeva Utchil, the 1948 Olympian goalkeeper; Krishna Shelar, former Maharashtra striker and present Maharashtra State Police coach; Johnny Barretto, former Maharashtra and Customs defender; Damodar Kuckian, the present Central Bank coach; S M Devadas, coach of Bank ofIndia and Maharashtra who also has undergone training under FIFA and in the Sao Paulo Academy in Brazil; Gokul Kanchan, former Bank of India winger; Purshottam Bangera, former Orkay Mills goalkeeper and Suresh Rao, former Union Bank deep defender. Players born on or after January 1, 1982 are eligible for the camp which will be held the year round, informs a BMFA release.. Indoor games for doctors Mulund Medico Sports Club will be organising the 11th Open Indoor Games for Medical Practitioners of the State from September 7 at Mulund. The two-day event open to any registered medical practitioner will feature badminton, table tennis, carrom and chess. Students, Interns and Para-Medicos are not eligible for the event, states the MMSC release. The Games open with the carrom tournament which will be played from September 7 till October 5 on Saturday and Sundays and will be held at Mulund Gymkhana. The table tennis and badminton events will be played on October 4 and 5 at Kalidas Sports Complex, PK road, Mulund (W). TT tourney at Matunga Gym Matunga Gymkhana will hold the Maharashtra State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 1997 from September 4-8 at the gymkhana.
