Neha Gangoli bags a treble

MUMBAI, Aug 25: Neha Gangoli bagged a treble, Nishad Dravid missed it in the first Maharashtra Junior State Selection Badminton tournament, organised and conducted by the Thane City and District Association at the Dadoji Konddeo Stadium, Thane.

Neha won the singles and and the doubles title in the sub-juniors and the singles in the junior girls. In the sub-junior singles final, Neha beat Trupti Murgunde (Pune) 11-6, 11-6. She teamed up with Trupti to win the doubles title, beating Gauri Narayan and Mugdha Bhagwat of Pune 15-11, 4-15, 15-13. Trupti was again the loser in the junior girls final as Neha won in extra pointa 12-10, 12-10.

Nishad Dravid won the singles and doubles title in midgets section, beating Gaurav Sonawane of Nasik 15-8, 15-1. He teamed up with Gaurav to win the doubles, winning 15-5, 15-5 against Anand Pawar and Sagar Bajaj (MSDBA).

He lost in the sub-juniors singles final, going down 5-15, 6-15 to Aditya Umrani, who was another player to bag a double, winning the singles and doubles title.

Sub-junior (singles): Aditya Umrani (Pune) bt Nishad Dravid (Dhule) 15-5, 15-6. Doubles: Aditya Umrani (Pune)-Nitin Ingole (Aurangabad) bt Prashant Bahatre-Himanshu Thakkar (Thane) 15-12, 15-10.

Midgets (singles): Nishad Dravid (Dhule) bt Gaurav Sonawane (Nasik) 15-8, 15-1. Doubles: Dravid-Sonawane bt Anand Pawar-Sagar Bajaj (MSDBA) 15-5, 15-5.Mini (singles): Ajay Jayram (MSDBA) bt Abhinav Kapoor (MSDBA) 15-7, 15-2.

GIRLS (Junior, singles): Neha Gangoli (GMBA) bt Trupti Murgunde (Pune) 12-10, 12-10.
