[Details] Steel majors have managed to step up their production levels in the first half of the current year, despite a slump in the market. Tata Iron & Steel Company improved its crude steel production by 3.4% during the first half of the current fiscal over the corresponding period of 1996-97, while Steel Authority of India Limited saw an 11% rise.

[Details] NEPC Micon Ltd has decided to cancel the proposed dividend of 15% for the year ended March 1997. NEPC was forced to cancel the dividend due to financial constraints being faced by the group as it undertook many new unrelated business ventures.
