The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has resorted to psychological warfare in Phase Two of its operation to split the Congress party in the Lok Sabha and manoeuvre itself into power at the Centre. An artful public campaign is on to predict large-scale defections from the Congress in the hope that this will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Khalap moots limit on size of ministries
A proposal to limit the size of the ministries in the States to one-tenth of the strength of a unicameral legislature and 12% to 15% of a bicameral legislature has been mooted by the Law Ministry. The proposal, made in the background of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh forming a huge council of ministers in which all defectors have been given berths, is part of a note prepared by the Law Ministry on the measures to be taken to strengthen the anti-defection law.

ISI using Taliban militia in J&K war
The Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan has started pushing in Afghan Talibans into Jammu and Kashmir, while security forces have geared up to intercept them. This was indicated during the recent seizures made by the Army and security forces all over the state. Giving details, sources said three foreign mercenaries were challenged by an Army patrol soon after they sneaked into Balakot area of Poonch district from Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK).
