Hailstorm wreaks havoc in Nagpur

[Details] The recent hailstorm had caused extensive damages to crops, especially orange, cotton and soyabean in the Nagpur region and according to preliminary estimate the loss of crops in the district was around Rs 5 crore. She said that as many as 415 villages in the district were affected due to the week-long hailstorm, during the last week of October.

Historians resolve to fortify heritage

[Details] A resolution regarding conservation and maintenance of forts in Maharashtra and India will be tabled at the coming Indian Art History Congress at Shillong. Dr Prafulla Chandra Tawade, a researcher with Durga Samvardhan Samiti, who is attending the two-day meet on Thursday will table the resolution which stresses on conservation of about 435 forts in Maharashtra and other places in India.

Iraqi threat to shoot down US planes on UN mission

[Details] Iraq has threatened to shoot down United States surveillance planes (U-2 spy planes) that fly over its airspace as part of United Nations weapons inspections team, US Ambassador Bill Richardson said yesterday. Iraqi Ambassador Nizar Hamdoon sent a letter last weekend to Chief Weapons Inspector Richard Butler warning him that Iraqi forces were on alert for a possible US air strike.
