Sri Lanka storm into final
AGENCIES
LAHORE, Nov 5: A rampaging Sanath Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva proved too hot for Pakistan to handle as Sri Lanka coasted to a comfortable eight-wicket win and walked into the final of the Quadrangular tournament at the floodlit Gaddafi stadium here this evening. Facing 281 to win, the World Cup champions had some anxious moments early in the innings losing the wickets of Marvan Atapattu (23) and Roshan Mahanama (0) with only 68 on board. But Jayasuriya, in his usual belligerent mood, combined well with De Silva as they tore apart the Pakistani bowling before a capacity crowd. Their unbeaten third-wicket partnership of 213 runs helped them reach 281 for two in 40th over. Jayasuriya struck his sixth one-day hundred to remain unbeaten on 134 off 114 balls with 13 fours and three sixes and was named the man of the match.
