Charges in JJ shootout by weekend

NOVEMBER 5: Framing of charges in the J J shootout case will be completed during this week. Later, the judge will pass the necessary order directing the prosecution to present the final draft charge. Guarded by heavily armed policemen, over 20 main accused in the shootout case including the prime accused Subhash Singh Thakur and Bachhi Pandey were produced before the designated TADA court on Tuesday. Another prime accused Pappu Kalani was to appear before the court, however the production warrant reached the Thane jail late and arrangements could not be made for an escort party. Designated TADA judge P K Chawre and lawyers heard a transcript of the taped confessional statement made by Pappu Kalani after he was arrested by the police in 1992.
