IFA Shield ties postponed

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

CALCUTTA, NOV 6: The 103rd IFA Shield appears to be going the Calcutta Football League way with the organisers postponing tomorrow's matches between Churchill Brothers and Railway FC, Mohun Bagan and Mohameddan Sporting.

Already facing a financial crunch, Indian Football Association (IFA) is reported to have served a legal notice to the state sports department for not allowing them to use the Salt Lake Stadium. The Stadium authorities might have had a proper reason in doing so as the Asia Cup Winner's Cup second round match between Kawasaki Verde and East Bengal is scheduled for Saturday. The Japanese side has already arrived in the city and had a light work out today.

IFA's legal notice is said to have peeved the state sports officials who were caught unawares by the football body's move.
