[Details] South Africa overwhelmed World Champions Sri Lanka by 66 runs in the top of the table contest quadrangular cricket tournament held in Pakistan. Chasing South Africa's 311 runs for nine in the allotted 50 overs, the World Champions ended with 245 for nine in 50 overs.

[Details] In what looked a repeat of yesterday's match, India outclassed Macau 92-40 in their Group B league game of the Asian School Basketball Championships at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, in Delhi yesterday.

Plans to change National A format

[Details] A move is afoot to make the National A chess championships more competitive and attractive from its present long 17-round all-play-all format. The national body has decided to ask the the Players' Council -- of which Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua is the chairman and GM Pravin Thipsay, the secretary -- their opinion on the matter.
