Holyfield floors Moorer for title
Father time got lost on his way to the fight. He should at least, it would seem, have made his presence felt, by slowing down Evander Holyfield a bit, maybe even knocking him down a couple of times. But at the ripe old ring age of 35, Holyfield withstood the old man's test of time and Michael Moorer's vaunted right jabs which gave him so much trouble in 1994, when Moorer won a unanimous decision over Holyfield, to add the International Boxing Federation title to his World Boxing Association crown.

Cairns does an all-round trick for Kiwis
An outstanding all round performance by Chris Cairns left the first cricket Test between Australia and New Zealand evenly poised at stumps on the third day at the Gabba yesterday. Cairns grabbed the prized wicket of skipper Mark Taylor in Australia's second innings to add to his 64 runs in New Zealand's first innings and 90-4 when Australia batted the first time.

A huge gap in shooting skills made the difference as defending champions South Korea humbled India 93-64 in the semi-finals of the Asian School Basketball Championships at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium yesterday. Korean sharp-shooter Jim Kyong Suk sunk in four three-pointers in the initial moments and India were left fighting a lost cause. The Korean adeptness at long rangers resulted in 15 three-pointers.
