Mamata dares Kesri to act against rebels
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CALCUTTA, Nov 11: Congress president Sitaram Kesri today warned dissident leaders that indiscipline would not be tolerated in the party, as the stormy petrel Mamata Banerjee dared the party high command to take action against them. Kesri hardening his stand against Mamata, whom he had earlier described as his daughter, said without naming her, that conspiracies were being hatched to break the party in West Bengal. He had respect for those who had complaints. They could air their grievances in the party, the AICC chief cautioned those who raised their voices against the Congress. The party was not a railway platform that people could come and go at will. Those who wanted to go could leave the party, he said adding that some had already left. Those who made mistakes should rectify themselves, else they would suffer, Kesri said while addressing the 110th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. A section of Congress workers raised slogans of ``Mamata hatao, Congress bachao'', demanding the ouster of Banerjee. The rebel leader who organised a parallel meeting at a separate venue in the constituency of WBPCC chief Somen Mitra said her Trinamul Congress Committee would not succumb to pressure.
