Hunt on for 3,000 missing after Linda onslaught

HANOI, November 11: The search for more than 3,000 people still missing nine days after Typhoon Linda hit the southern coast of Vietnam was continuing today although hope of finding survivors is small, officials said. Figures from Storm and Flood Control committees in 12 provinces of the Mekong delta show that 453 people died, 860 were injured and damage was estimated at hundred s of millions of dollars. The official toll given by the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control said Linda was responsible for 315 deaths and 732 serious injuries.
