Jain report redundant: Forensic expert
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHENNAI, Nov 11: The eminent forensic scientist Professor P Chandrasekharan has observed that the findings of the Jain Commission Report are redundant since the conspiracy angle was thoroughly and professionally investigated by the special investigation team (SIT) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). ``I have a lot of respect for Justice M C Jain. But I consider the Commission's inquiry as a fifth wheel to the coach. After having entrusted the investigation with the SIT and brought it under the jurisdiction of the TADA special court, a parallel inquiry is a wasteful exercise. This is because the SIT had made a thorough probe under Section 120 B of the IPC into the conspiracy angle,'' Prof Chandrasekharan, the key forensic witness in the Rajiv Assassination case, said. ``I had occasion to move with police officials at all levels including those who had occupied positions at the Interpol. I had coordinated with the SIT in offering scientific assistance throughout the Rajiv assassination case. I can vouchsafe with certainty that the officials of the SIT led by Karthikeyan and Raju had done a commendable job. The case is already in the TADA court. It would be therefore prudent to wait for the TADA court verdict.''
