RBI: Only one property abroad under VDIS

MUMBAI, Nov 11: The Reserve bank of India (RBI) has clarified that under the voluntary disclosure of income scheme (VDIS), if a person is holding more than one property abroad, he will be allowed to keep only one and the remaining will have to be sold and the proceeds brought back to the country. A release from the central bank on Tuesday said that in case of a declarant holding an immovable property abroad and if the rental income is not adequate to maintain the property then the central bank will permit remittance of reasonable amount for its maintenance.
