Draft poll note skirts issue of criminals in politics

[Details] The government's attempts at making "far-reaching" electoral reforms in the forthcoming session of Parliament may end in a whimper, judging by the draft notice circulated by the Union law ministry to the Group of Ministers (GOM). The law ministry appears to have skirted key issues like keeping criminals out of the electoral fray, while incorporating proposals on peripheral issues.

Pawar avoids CWC battle with eye on own war

[Details] Sharad Pawar's tactical absence in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting last Sunday is seen in political circles as an attempt to remain flexible between various pressure groups within Congress. Party sources opine that Pawar would have been forced to take a stance either in favour of Kesri or Jitendra Prasada, if he had attended the CWC meeting.
