Mumbai Notes -- Awards function

* The Catholic Association of Bombay will hold its 20th Annual Awards function on November 30 at St Xavier's College Hall, Marine Lines. Students of 143 schools, 17 colleges and 37 post-SSC institutions will be honoured. A silver medallion and a scroll of honour will be awarded to the best all-round student, irrespective of caste or community, selected by the principal from the SSC batch or final year students of colleges who have passed out this year.

Those teachers who started their careers in or before 1947 will also be honoured. Nominees' names should be provided with current addresses to president Dr Anthony Sequeira at 208, Dr Mascarenhas Road, Mumbai-400 010, a press-note said.

Lifetime award

* Dev Anand will be given the life time achievement award for his contribution to cinema at the inaugural function of Festival of Films, Mumbai, to be held at Chavan Centre on November 23. The festival will be held at Chavan Centre and NCPA between November 24 and 30. It has been organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images. Govind Nihalani's Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, based on Jyanpeeth award winner Mahashweta Devi's novel, is the inaugural film of the festival.
