Saurashtra sight win over Gujarat

RAJKOT, Nov 18: Saurashtra required 87 runs to win with nine wickets intact against Gujarat on the penultimate day the four day West Zone Ranji Trophy league match at the Municipal Corporation ground, here, today.

Gujarat were restricted to 259 in their second innings after conceding 143-run lead. Saurashtra, needing 117 runs to win the match, were 30 for one wicket at draw of the stumps.

Services rout J&K

NEW DELHI: Services humbled Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 185 runs in their North Zone Ranji Trophy league tie, here, today.Services completed their league engagements with 16 points, while Jammu and Kashmir ended up with two.

Brief scores: Services 429-9 declared bt Jammu and Kashmir 137 (A Qayoom 35; Harpreet Singh 6-38, Arun Sharma 4-27) and 107 (Ishfaq 41, S Kulkarni 5-19)

Haryana win

GURGAON: Spinner Pradeep Jain (3-24) and Pankaj Thakur (3-47) propelled Haryana to an innings and 115-run win over Himachal Pradesh with a day to spare in the North Zone Ranji Trophy league match, here, today.

Haryana have garnered 25 points (3 against Delhi, 8 Jammu and Kashmir and 8 against Services).

They play their last league match against Punjab on November 22.

Play washed out

BANGALORE: Overnight rain and steady drizzle in the morning washed out the the final day's play between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the South Zone Ranji Trophy league, here, today.

Karnataka, who faced the daunting task of having to score 369 runs to win or play the full today to force a draw, appeared very relieved by the outcome. Tamil Nadu who looked set to win outright could not hide their disappointment by the turn of events.

Tamil Nadu proved the better of the two teams and ended the tie with five points for taking the first innings lead. Karnataka got three points from the draw. Karnataka now have 24 points from four matches with one match to go against Andhra while Tamil Nadu have logged 10 points from two matches. Last year, the match between the two sides had been completely washed out at Chennai.
