`RWITC can't hold elections'

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

November 18: Even as the various parties of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) have started their campaigns and meetings for the forthcoming annual general meeting and elections, the company law department directive issued to the Club clearly states that unless the matter is resolved by the High Court, no elections can be held.

In a press release issued by the Forum for Fair and Clean Racing, Ram Khanna decried such moves being made at the RWITC. On March 13 this year, the Company Law Department issued a directive holding the RWITC constitution invalid as it failed to provide voting rights to all the members of the Club.

``As no stay has been issued by the High Court on the Company Law Department, no such meeting, or a notice for the said meeting, can be issued,'' the release added.
