AAFI suspends 13 for drug use

NEW DELHI, November 21: The Amateur Athletics Federation of India (AAFI) has temporarily suspended 13 athletes for the use of banned drugs. The athletes, including two women, were suspended on the basis of tests made during the ITC Inter-Zonal Junior Athletic Championships held in Calcutta between October 3-5 following a random test conducted during the Patiala camp.The suspended athletes are: V Pandeshwari (RSCB, 110m 200m); Rajesh Vyas (MP, 10km walk); PK Mishra (CRPF, 5000, 10,000m); Amandeep Singh, Harinder Singh and Sukhjit Singh (all from Punjab -- discus); Ishtaq Ahmed (UP, hammer); Devender Singh (Haryana, discus); Pawan Rathi (Haryana, 1500m); Varinder Singh (hammer); Sini Mathews (Kerala, 100m hurd); Rajesh Kumar (discus); Laikh Ahmed (hammer).
