Authoritative win for Customs

November 23: Mumbai Customs defeated Sports Authority of India 3-1 in a pre-quarterfinal match of the Bombay Provincial hockey championships at Mahindra Stadium today.

Ivan D'Costa deflected Rory Fernandes' hard goal-bound shot in the third minute to give SAI the lead.

Gurmeet Rao equalised for Customs in the 14th minute when he converted a pass from Mohammad Zubavi. The 1-1 score went into half-time.

Goals from Leonard Pereira (53rd) and Adolf Colaco (56th) gave Customs the match.

Muralidharan's hat-trick gave Vasai Eskimos A a 3-0 win over Khalsa Gymkhana C in a third division Pool A BHA league match at Khalsa College.

St Mary's ISC tops

St Mary's ISC, Mazagoan, defeated St Francis D'Assisi 3-1 in the final of the Schools under-17 Bro Paulus Memorial football tournament at the Vidya Vikasini School ground, Vasai, today.

Mustafa Latif (2) and Oliver D'Souza were the goal-getter for the champions and Clement Augustine reduced the margin for D'Assisi.

PJ Club prevailed 1-0 over Mary Help of Christians in the HAM-conducted Third Division League at the St Andrew's School ground, Bandra, today.Christopher Williams netted the match-winner in the 11th minute. Blazers went on a goalscoring spree when they trounced St Joseph's, Malad, 6-1 in a Fourth Division tie. Collin D'Lima (2), Girish Pimple (2), Carl D'Souza and Keegan Gonsalves scored for Blazers and K Dheeman reduced the margin for the losers.

Ghatkopar YMCA win

Ghatkopar YMCA defeated Central YMCA 59-49 after leading 28-26 in the junior boys' semi-finals of the 10th Bombay YMCA basketball tournament, organised by Ghatkopar YMCA and sponsored by Kanara Engineering, Thums-Up and United Phosporus, today.

Amit More (20), Sachin More (13) and Ashish Lad (9) shone for the winners. Arjun Malik (11) and Surendra Babla (15) did well for the losers.

St Joseph's win

St Joseph's Mira Road defeated Bombay Republicans 3-1 in a Division II MDFA league match. Clive Kohan (2), Madon D'Mello (1) scored for the winners. Ashton D'Souza decreased the margin.

Bosco Strikers pipped MLWB, NMJ Road, 1-0. Velanky Rodrigues was the scorer.
