THRISSUR: A 35-year-old priest, Father Jose Nadumattahil, was allegedly shot dead by terrorists at Manipur late last night, a press release from Thrissur Archbishop said here today. Father Jose, hailing from Chelakara in Thrissur district, was allegedly attacked at the Don Bosco School office near Maram Bazar, in Manipur, the release said. The Vicar General of the Archdioceses, Father Boso Puthur, called on the bereaved family members and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. Veteran CPI leader Krishnan dead THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Kallat Krishnan died at the medical college hospital here this evening. He was 78. Krishnan had been under treatment for an intestinal ailment and had undergone a surgery a few week's ago. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. One of the founder leaders of the undivided communist party in Kerala, Krishnan was one of the two surviving leaders who had attended the founding conference of the party held in Pinarayi in Kannur district in 1939. The other surviving leader is E M S Namboodiripad. 151 Chakma families repatriated AGARTALA: Altogether 924 Chakma refugees belonging to 151 families were repatriated to the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) in Bangladesh on the third day of repatriation today. With this a total of 2,315 Chakma have so far crossed over to Bangladesh from South Tripura in the fourth phase of repatriation, official sources said. Delhi traders for week-long protest NEW DELHI: More than 100 trade associations in Delhi have decided to go on a week long protest against the government's imposition of service tax on the trading community. Coming together under the umbrella of Forum of Delhi Traders Association, the trade associations will also take part in the all India trade bandh between December 2-4, called by the Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal and Confederation of All India Traders, an association release said here today. Rabri to file nomination papers today PATNA: Bihar CM Rabri Devi will file her nominations for election to the State Legislative Council on Monday, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raghunath Jha said. The notification for election to the lone seat will be issued on Monday and elections will be held on December 2, Jha said. The seat fell vacant as Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Ravindra Kumar Tanti resigned to facilitate Rabri's entry into the Upper House of the State Legislature. Rabri Devi is presently not a member of either House. Four killed as truck veers into ditch VISHAKHAPATNAM: FOUR persons were killed and three others injured when a marble-laden truck fell into a roadside ditch at Payakaraopet Mandal, about 150 kms from here, today. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital, police said. The truck was going to Vijayawada from Srikakulam, police added.
