Two more SC judges "suspend" Pak CJ
Pakistan's Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah came under attack again on Thursday as two judges of the Peshawar Bench of the Supreme Court suspended him on the issue of seniority, plunging the country into an unprecedented crisis. The two judges of the Peshawar bench of the Supreme Court upheld the judgment by the Baluchistan Bench of the court that Shah's appointment to the top judicial post be ``held in abeyance''.

Relenting to pressure from various Muslim groups and political parties, Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga has revoked permission to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for filming controversial writer Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children in Sri Lanka. In a letter to BBC producer Christopher Hall, Secretary to the President, K Balapatabendi said that "having considered all aspects involved in the film, the government of Sri Lanka is regrettably unable to grant permission to BBC to proceed with the filming of it."
