EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Dec 2: After serving Vadodara cricket for 17 years and claiming 116 wickets, leg spinner Sanjay Hazare announced his retirement here on Tuesday. He played 51 first class matches and nine times took a five-wicket haul, with best figures of six for 46 against Gujarat at Vadodara in 1982-83. That was in the second innings; in the first he claimed five for 47, taking his match figures to 11 for 93. That was his best year, after making his debut in 1981 against Maharashtra in Sholapur at 20, in which he took 25 wickets in four matches. And that was also the year in which Vadodara won the Talim Shield by emerging West Zone champions.
