MUMBAI, Dec 2: Seven directors on the board of Tata Industries Ltd - the holding company of several Tata companies - have offered to step down, paving the way for the constitution of a new look, fresh blood board by January next year. The new board will provide a strategic thrust to the groups entry into emerging areas in line with recommendations of the McKinsey. At a meeting of the Tata Industries Board held here on Tuesday, N A Palkhiwala, D S Seth, S A Sabavala, K M Chinnappa, S R Vakil, A H Tobaccowala and F C Kohli, who are also common directors of the board of Tata Sons, offered to step down to enable the group to restructure the Tata Industries Board. However, the services of the directors will continue to be available for the board from time to time, according to a Tata press release. Though the names of the new directors have been doing the rounds for quite some time, Tata Sons is yet to take a final decision on it. The names is expected to be finalised shortly and the board will be constituted by the beginning of the next year. The decision of the directors was a reflection of their desire to provide an opportunity for the upcoming generations.
