Madhukar Kokate has been appointed as the new municipal commissioner of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation from Wednesday. He will be taking charge from deputy commissioner R K Sonawane, who was officiating in the post.

Science quiz

The Nehru Planetarium jointly with the Rotary Club of Bombay has organised a science quiz on December 6 at 10 am at the planetarium. All science colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University are eligible to participate. Ticket counter

In order to cope with additional passenger traffic, a new additional ticket booking counter has been recently commissioned at the north east side of the Bhayander railway station. A Western Railway spokesperson said the counter will work in two shifts, 6 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 10 pm on all days. Passengers can buy ordinary first class and second class suburban tickets from the counter.

Exhibition

The annual exhibition-cum-sale of the work of trainees from S P J Sadhana School will be held at the Sophia Bhabha Hall, Sophia campus, Bhulabhai Desai road between 10 am and 4 pm on December 4 and 5. Sarees, dupattas, kurtas, table napkins, torans, ganpatis along with snacks, pickles and squashes prepared by handicapped children will be on display.
