ONGC finish in top six

MUMBAI, December 2: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) pipped Royal Caterers 2-1 in the Harwood league match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today. With this win the winners make it to the Super-league which starts on December 7.

It was a fine comeback by ONGC after trailing 0-1 at half-time. Roy Fernandes took the red brigade into the lead, mid-way through through the first session. Roy capitalised on a pass from Evans Fernandes, beating the railway goalkeeper with a neat placement.

ONGC, who needed atleast a draw today for a super-league berth, dominated the proceedings in the latter half of the match. The equaliser came in the 15th minute after the breather when substitute Brian D'Mello headed a a through pass by Natraj Swamy giving no chance to custodian Prem Sequeira.

ONGC's second goal came late in the second-half when Anthony Gonsalves struck with a solo, slicing through the Caterers defence and score the match winner.
