Mumbai Notes -- Appeal


The BEST has appealed to autos, taxis, scooters and other private vehicles from parking vehicles in the yellow boxes which have been marked in front of bus stops. These boxes have been painted for proper halting of buses so that passengers can board them easily. The undertaking has also warned motorists that if a vehicle is parked or halted in the boxes which are no parking zones, according to rule 15 of "Rules of the road regulations" framed under the Central Motor Vehicles, 1989, the offender will be fined Rs 50 for taxis and Rs 100 for other vehicles. If the vehicle is required to be towed away, the fine will be upto Rs 100 for light vehicles andRs 500 for heavy vehicles.

Free course

A free six months instructors' course in advanced first aid and home nursing in English will be conducted from January to June 1998. Classes will be held twice a week between 6.30 pm and 8.45 pm under the auspices of Jamshetji Tata ambulance college.Applicants can call on the Commandant of the college in person between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm before December 20.
