India File -- Women fans to get pride of place
CALCUTTA: Eighty thousand women will exclusively watch the women's World Cup final at Eden Gardens on Dec 29 free of cost. According to the organisers of the final match 80,000 seats would be exclusively reserved for women spectators who would be watching the final free. Ten thousand priced tickets would be sold to the public. All the eight quarter-finalists of the championships will be present during the final. President KR Narayanan had been invited to the final. Doordarshan would telecast live all the matches from the quarter-final stage and all other matches involving India. Chess team NEW DELHI: A seven member team, including three girls, will represent India in the world youth chess championship to be held in Cannes (France) from December 9 to 18. Team: Boys: P Mahesh Chandran (TN, under-14 champion), M R Venkatesh (TN, U-12 champion), P Harikrishna (AP, U-12), G Kennedy (Manipur, U-10 winner). Girls: C N Rajalakshmi (TN, U-14 champion), Tania Sachdev (Delhi, U-12 champion), C Humpy (AP, U-10 champion). Coaches: Manuel Aaron and P T Ummer Koya.
