India encounter bad light at the end of the tunnel

[Details] Sachin Tendulkar could be forgiven if he believes God is a Lankan. India had 12 mandatory overs to cook the tailend goose in the pressure cooker atmosphere of the Wankhede Stadium, when celestial intervention thwarted India's determined victory surge. A fleeting shower, followed by failing light, came as twin disasters for India as the third and final Test came to an anti-climactic and premature end yesterday.

Sohail, Ijaz in record stand

[Details] A terrific 298-run opening wicket stand between Aamir Sohail and Ijaz Ahmed put Pakistan on road to their third successive big win against a depleted West Indies side on the second day of the third cricket Test being played in Karachi. Pakistan lead West Indies by 111 runs as they dismissed the visitors for 216 in the first innings. When stumps were drawn yesterday, Pakistan was well placed at 327 for the loss of one wicket with Ahmed still playing on a superb 127.

Australia edge past Kiwis

[Details] A classy century by Mark Waugh helped Australia to a three-wicket win over New Zealand with just two balls to spare in a gripping day-night World Series match yesterday in Adelaide. Waugh scored 104 from 113 deliveries as Australia overhauled New Zealand's 260 for seven to record their first win in the triangular limited overs tournament after losing their first match to South Africa.
