PM cautious; WEF says time's running out
Prime Minister I K Gujral has reiterated the need for India to proceed cautiously on economic reforms. Particularly so considering the collapse of the Mexican economy and the more recent collapse of the ASEAN countries. World Economic Forum (WEF) chief Klaus Schwab, however, has emphasised that India cannot not afford to lose any more time in hurrying up the process.
| BJP urges TN clamp down on ISI activities
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by the deputy leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, O Rajagopal, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in Chennai on Sunday and handed over a report demanding effective steps to put down the activities of Pakistan's Intelligence Agency (ISI) in the country, particularly in Tamil Nadu. The delegation apprised him about the party's concern over the flare-up of communal violence in parts of the state.
