PATNA, Dec 10: Annoyed at not being allowed to visit Laxmanpur Bathe to "apply balm on the wounds of the victims of the massacre", former prime minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee today threatened that the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections would have its impact on Bihar. Vajpayee, on a one-day visit to Bihar, was scheduled to visit Bathe to condole the families of those massacred by the Ranvir Sena last week. Claiming that his visit might trigger off "fresh violence", the state administration today didn't allow BJP leader Atal Behari Vajpayee to visit Lakshmanpur-Bathe, the scene of last week's Dalit massacre. Addressing a gathering here after breaking the protest fast of BJP State president Yashwant Sinha, an agitated Vajpayee announced his plan to go to Bathe tomorrow. He expressed disgust at the conduct of the officials who he said were prepared to resort to firing to disperse the mob if he had stuck to his peace mission to "palliate the hurt of the massacred village". He demanded an explanation for the officials' insistence on using force and firing. Later, talking to media persons, Vajapayee expressed the confidence that the BJP would sweep the polls, ruling out any repeat of the 1996 split verdict. Vajpayee, all through the projected as the party's prime ministerial candidate, promised, after the elections efforts would be made to solve the Bihar's stubborn problems. He charged previous governments of nato having made substantial attempts to assuage the situation in Bihar, and accused the administration of gross neglect, saying that the situation was only worsening by the day. Vajpayee advocated the imposition of President's Rule but held that "personally I would not like to bestow this privilege on the caretaker government in Delhi". He said there was no government worth the name in Bihar, alleging that a proxy rule by Laloo Prasad Yadav was headed the state.Vajpayee also promised to set up a high power committee to solve the land problems, to collect information about the tenancy of the land problems and suggest the remedies. He put the reasons for the "cycle of violence" as the inequitable and effective distribution of land, the politics of casteism and lastly, the violent means adopted by naxalites and retaliatory violence by private armies. Vajpayee strongly refuted charges that the BJP was patronising the Ranvir Sena and demanded a full enquiry into the Bathe massacre. Vajpayee did not rule out the possibility of BJP entering into alliance with West Bengal leader Mamata Banerjee's Trinamul Congress, but observed, "let her decide about her moves. We are not in hurry". Samata Party Chief George Fernandes who accompanied Vajpayee also condemned the move of the State administration in not a allowing them to visit Bathe.Fernandes announced to the crowd that the Samata-BJP alliance was a reality none could violate.
