December 10: A ten-year-old boy, Bharathan Vishwa Karma, was run over by a BEST bus at Kandivli today, while he was on his way home. According to police sources, the accident took place at 5.30 pm at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, Charkhop.

Sudhakar Damodar Mhatre, the driver of the bus who was absconding after the incident, surrendered at the Kandivli police station later in the evening. The Kandivli police informed that the boy died on the spot after suffering a severe head injury.

The investigating officer R H Kadam told Express Newsline that an FIR was filed and a case registered under Section 304(A). The post-mortem report is awaited.
