Statescape -- 2 Pakistanis among six arrested for espionage

JAIPUR, December 10: Six people, including two Pakistanis and an Indian Air Force jawan, have been arrested by the Rajasthan Police and charged with spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), according to police sources here. The arrests were made in Delhi and Rajasthan. During the interrogation, four of the arrested persons, all Indians, confessed to supplying classified documents and photographs of vital defence installations to the ISI at a very high premium. They also admitted to receiving a week's training on espionage in Lahore. The six were arrested after a long stint of observation afterit became apparent that their intentions were not noble and they were intent on passing on state secrets to their country. NLFT activists fall in police net AGARTALA: Five persons, including two National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) activists, have been arrested and arms and ammunition recovered from them. On Tuesday, Assam Rifles jawans raided the house of an NLFT activist and arrested him. One country-made pistol, a pipegun, cartridges and explosives were recovered. Another activist was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of four members of a non-tribal family in October. Three others were arrested for their alleged involvement in a dacoity. Panchayat president killed HYDERABAD: A panchayat president was killed in a bomb attack in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night, police said. The president of Parumanchala village panchayat A Kishtanna was attacked and killed by his adversaries M Sekhar Reddy and four others with bombs and boulders at Nandikotkur taluk. The award of a contract for construction of a check dam sparked off the attack, police added. Bandh disrupts normal life in Kashmir SRINAGAR: Normal life was disrupted on Wednesday in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Kashmir valley following a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC). The bandh, coinciding with World Human Rights day, was called to attract the attention of the international community towards ``massive rights violation at the hands of the security forces in the valley.'' Security forces in sensitive areas maintained a tight vigil. No untoward incidents were reported. Bomb hoax at Kerala medical college THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police bomb squad thoroughly searched the Medical College hospital here on Wednesday morning after an anonymous telephone call warned of a bomb at the hospital where Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar is undergoing treatment. The police took no chances in view of last Saturday's bomb blast in a train at Thrissur. The call turned out to be a hoax. Nayanar has been under treatment at the hospital since Monday for fever and a respiratory infection.
