AMBOLI, DON BOSCO IN FINAL: Don Bosco Oratory and Village Amboli entered the final of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj trophy Division I conducted by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel. In the first semifinals played today, Don Bosco beat Vikhroli XI 3-0. Don Bosco dominated the first-half. They went into the lead when a free-kick awarded to them for rough tackle, saw Johnny Dias' centre headed in by Anthony Johnny.

Vikhroli XI came back strongly in the second-session but shot wide off the mark on numerous occasions. Don Bosco then went into the lead, late in the second-half when Ramesh Jugdankar struck with a powerful right-footer from the top of the box. Rupesh Shinde sealed all hopes of a Vikhroli comeback with Don Bosco's third goal minutes from the final whistle.

In the other semi-final Village Amboli got the better of Greater Bombay Police with a 2-0 win. The policemen were unlucky to score a self-goal. In the 27th minute, Sunil Amolik committed a defensive lapse while trying to clear the ball. This confused the advancing Police goalkeeper Vithal Mahadeshwar who was caught on the wrong foot.

Mahadeshwar, however did come-up with some fine saves later on to stop what could have been clear goals.

Felix D'Souza, with a late second-half goal, however sealed the match in Village Amboli's favour.
