Uniform offer norms for MFs

The Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) plans to come out with a standard offer document for mutual fund schemes, which will standardise the format and outline the minimum disclosures that need to be made. However, mergers, amalgamations and takeovers of mutual funds would not come under SEBI's purview.

MTNL applies for COAI membership

The Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has approached the cellular operators forum, Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI), for membership even as the latter has complained to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) against MTNL's entry in the field of cellular services. The move has created a flutter amongst cellular operators.

Rothmans wants to retain stake in ITC

The UK-based Rothmans of Pall Mall believes that its 2% stake in ITC should not call for a board resolution for setting up a 100% subsidiary. Godfrey Philips (India)," Rothmans director (public affairs) Bob Fletcher stated that Rothmans' minor stake in ITC was distinctly different from that of any sizable strategic interest in a company.
