Panel to study SC order on CBI autonomy

[Details] The Centre has decided to refer the matter of implementing the Supreme Court verdict on autonomy for investigating agencies to a committee of secretaries. The committee will also recommend "formal measures" required for subsequent legislation as directed by the apex court.

Panel formed to study EC's proxy voting proposal

[Details] The Centre has constituted a committee to study the Election Commission's (EC) proposal to introduce proxy voting for over 50 lakh personnel of the Armed and paramilitary forces and diplomatic corps. Though the proposal has gained widespread support from all parties, the issue will have to be discussed in Parliament before any final decision is taken.
