Over 20 killed in Pak accident

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
ISLAMABAD, JAN 4: At least 20 people were killed and several others injured in a fatal road accident involving five vehicles including a passenger bus and an oil tanker near Jhelum, about 100 km from here last evening.

While eyewitnesses said that more than 20 people perished in the accident.According to media reports, the accident, one of the worst in the country, took place on the G T Road after a Lahore-bound truck rammed into a stationary oil tanker. Three more vehicles including an over-crowded passenger bus bound for Chakwal city which were running behind the truck also collided killing at least 20 people on the spot.

The oil tanker burst into flames immediately after being hit by the truck engulfing all the vehicles into it as the burning oil spread into a large area making rescue operations impossible. The fire was so intense that the passengers of the bus hardly got any chance to run to safety as people in the area watched helplessly, the eyewitnesses said.
