  Iran urges Muslims to protest against killings
Iran has condemned the massacre of civilians in Algeria, and called on the Muslim world to end its indifference in the face of such odious crimes. The call has come in the wake of Tuesday's night massacre in Algeria which left 78 dead by official count, but 412 dead by media estimates.
  Final CBI report against Mahanta tomorrow
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will submit its final report on the multi-crore Letters of Credit (LoC) scandal before the Guwahati High Court on Tuesday. In the meanwhile, Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta's fate hangs in balance as Governor S K Sinha goes through the application of sanction against him.

UN headquarters hit by rocket, no damage
The United Nations headquarters in Baghdad was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade on Saturday night, causing minor damage and no casualties. Iraqi authorities have reportedly condemned the attack, stating that it was the work of forces seeking to destroy relations between Iraq and the United Nations.
Another IAS officer rails against PPA
Yet another officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) has written to the Chief Secretary against Gujarat's ruling Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) government. The officer, R P Gupta, has alleged that some decisions of the government on power projects could lose the state Rs 15,000 crore over the next twenty years.

CRPF man makes abortive bid to enter PM's room
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) assistant commandant, armed with a revolver, made an abortive bid to enter the room where Prime Minister I K Gujral was staying at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday. The incident led to mild tension forcing the police to further tighten security at Raj Bhavan.
Over 20 killed in Pak accident
At least 20 people were killed and several others injured in a fatal road accident in Jhelum near Islamabad on Saturday. The accident took place when a Lahore-bound truck rammed into a stationary oil tanker. Three more vehicles including an over-crowded passenger bus running behind the truck collided with the truck.
