Inter-services co-operation discussed

CHANDIGARH, January 8: The security scenario, the role of security forces and deployment of formations as well as inter-services co-operation was the thrust of the annual conference of the Army and the para-military forces at Chandimandir today. Senior Western Command functionaries and commanders of the Border Security Force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police formations based in the western sector participated in the conference, which was presided over by the Chief of Staff, Western Command, Lt Gen H.R.S. Mann.

Highlighting the importance of the interaction between the Army and the para-military forces, Lt Gen Mann said it helped both sides in optimising their potential. He stressed that concerted efforts must continue to train the personnel for higher levels of operational preparedness. He also assured the participating commanders that the Army would be more than willing to help the BSF and ITBP in this regard.
