  UK spy story is an open book now
The wave of democracy which swept Russia may have destroyed the country's structure. But the new system has come as a boon for archivists, historians and spooksters. Documents, papers and unpublished material relating to the last 70 years are available to anyone in search of the Soviet version of 20th century history.
  "Greens help take sting out of cancer"
"Eat fresh fruit and vegetables to fight cancer" is the message being promoted by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The WHO has urged people to resort to fresh fruit and vegetables rather than beta-carotene pills in their fight against cancer. The WHO claims that the pills could actually increase the risk of lung cancer and cardiovascular disease for smokers.

In the first international treaty to confront the growing fears of human cloning, 19 European nations signed an agreement seeking a ban on cloning of human beings, whether living or dead. Germany and Britain, however, abstained from the agreement.

Diana's car was going 60 miles per hour: expert
A leading British accident investigator, Murray Mackay, has pinned the blame for Princess Diana's death in a car crash in France on the absence of crash barriers in the Paris tunnel which was the site of the accident. Refuting press reports that Diana's car was travelling at a speed of 120 miles per hour, Mackay claimed that the actual speed of the car was only half of that.
