Family seeks million dollars to forget & forgive

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
DUBAI, January 18: An Indian family has rejected an offer of $100,000 as "blood money" to pardon a Filipino accused of killing their relative and has, instead, sought $1.3 million, local newspapers said today.

The amount was mentioned by the victim's family, living in Birmingham, Britain, in a letter produced in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi yesterday, reports said. The Filipino, John Aquino, 35, was found guilty of murdering his room-mate, Harbhajan Singh, in 1989 and was sentenced to death by a court in Ajman.
