MUMBAI, Jan 18: Two sub-sects of the Muslim community -- the Sunnis and the Ahle-Hadees -- clashed today over the sighting of the Id moon, resulting in grievous injuries to five persons. Two of them -- Mohammed Siraj (28) and Mohammed Rashid (20) -- succumbed to their injuries at G T Hospital.Members of one sect barged into the office of the Roy'at-Hilal committee (Sighting of the Moon Committee) at the Juma Masjid around 7 pm and began ransacking it. Five persons were stabbed in the melee. One of the injured has been the King George hospital. Police reinforcements were called in to control the situation. Tension was reported in the Crawford Market area till late tonight with people coming out on the streets in large numbers.
