School children at their cultural best

EXPRESS NEWSLINE
CHANDIGARH, January 18: Tiny tots of Dale Spring School, Sector 33, put up an impressive cultural show at their 19th annual function held at the Tagore Theatre here today. The programme began with the welcome address by a child and traditional vandana. Attired in colourful dresses, little ones of nursery class sang "It's a happy day". In the item "Tu hai mera India", the students of LKG paid glowing tributes to India to commemorate 50 years of Independence. The performance of students in the play "Lets learn English" and "Happy Prince was commendable. The highlight of the function was a choreography by students of Class I -- "Let's love nature" in which they emphasised on the need to preserve nature. The audience swayed to the tunes of popular Punjabi folk dance -- Bhangra -- and also Haryanvi folk dance. The delightful faces of the parents at the end of the function only indicated that children had sung their way to their parents' heart.

Later, T.N. Mishra, Director, Regional Computer Centre, gave away the prizes. School Principal Manju Chohan read out the annual report highlighting the achievement of students in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.
