SC orders ATR in forest land scam
The Supreme Court has directed the Karnataka Government to file an action taken report (ATR) within two weeks on the encroachment of 3,309 acres of reserve forest land in Chikmaglur district. A wildlife activist has sought action against prominent persons, including the state JD chief, for encroachment of forest land in Chikmaglur.

Pak excesses in Gilgit bared
Pakistan authorities have let loose repression against the people in Gilgit, Baltistan and Hunza. Khan Naji, a senior leader from the areas occupied by Pakistan urged the United Nations to press upon Pakistan to stop repression against the people in this region and call for early elections under its auspices.
