Chinese withdraw from meetSYDNEY: Chinese swimmers pulled out of a World Cup meet in Sydney today amid fresh investigations into alleged doping. Chen Yan, a double gold medallist at last week's World Championships in Perth, and her teammate Zeng Qiliang did not turn up for their heats at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre today. They competed in races yesterday and were the only two swimmers sent to the meet by China, even though rules stipulate at least four competitors from each country should be sent.
Sobers for change
DUBAI: The West Indies badly need to inject new blood if they want to heal their bruised ego, Sir Garfield Sobers said. The West Indies great feels the only way the team can return to winning is if new players replace the older ones.
"I don't mean players like Courtney Walsh or, for that matter, Curtly Ambrose. But certainly the spent forces like Phil Simmons who should be phased out," he said.
Donald's benefit
