Swamy Tirtha remembered

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
HYDERABAD, January 22: Former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao today paid rich tributes to freedom fighter Swamy Ramananda Tirtha on his 26th death anniversary.

Rao, who is also the president of the Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Memorial Trust, said here that voluntary organisations should ensure that the government funds, earmarked for various welfare activities reached the targeted areas.

Recalling the programmes launched by the Swamy, Rao said the "gramodyog" (village development) has created employment to many and is relevant even today. "Not that the government is not spending money on welfare activities but we are not getting the desired results and in some cases the funds are not reaching the targeted group" he said.
