Anupama holds GM Agnos

UBEDA (SPAIN), January 22: National women's champion Anupama Gokhale (one point) of India held Grandmaster Dimitry Agnos (one) of Greece to a surprising draw in the third round of City of Ubeda International Chess tournament here today.

Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua (2) of India scored his second consecutive win to lead the field jointly with 21 other players. Sajandas Joshi (1.5) of India enhanced his chances for the norm of International Master when he comfortably drew with International Master Irisberto Herrera (1.5) of Cuba.

None of the other Indians could manage to maintain cent per cent score. IM P Konguvel, DV Prasad, Lanka Ravi and K Murugan went down to stronger players.
